Spiced creamy coffee jellies

We had a wonderful one week of holiday doing nothing.
Well by nothing I mean no serious stuff. Went for a concert , a singer my daughter is crazy about .
It was fun to go there, but then one looks so old in between all these teenagers.

We went for cycling ( 20km) went for a long walk on the beach and came back through the woods.
Othere than had we had a small party at home.

Didn't do anything special , just did a cheese plate with differnt variety of cheese and with french bread and this dessert. Also made a delicious snack to serve with Champagne from Ivys place Kopiastewill post it one of these days.

Actually we opened up the bottle a a late celebration for my daughters 16th birthday which was on Jully. We did celebrate with my family back in India but didn't do anything here.

I know it is almost 3 months back, but yeah everybody was busy, when hubby was free on a weekend other were not free and it went on and on...........

My daughter have four clelbration for her b'day if we are in India the year.
One with my sis and family in Bangalore ( if we are in India)
One with my mom and bunch in Kerala, then before leaving to India she has a celebration with her few good school friends and then when we are back from India with my hubbies family.

So this is the dessert I served for the last party. It is almost like pannacotta, but then it is a recipe i got from Good food magazine, they call it jelly.

You can call what ever you want , it doesn't matter as it is really delicious and not to mention super easy to make them.

Here at home I don't buy powdered coffee ( i do have my bottle of nescafe for when i just feel like having a taste from back home)
I buy coffee beans. So every morning i take the amount of coffee beans i need and powder them in my small coffee frinder and make coffee, the smell in the house in the morning is so wonderful.
I buy always my coffee beans from a special coffee shop were they sell only various variety of coffees and tea.
But this time I bought this LavAzza coffee beans from the supermarket. You might ask what was the reason for it.
I can only give this reason. When we were in India few months back, one of our favourite place to have coffee or a coffee based drink was in Barista.
And there i saw them using this coffee and thought why not give it a try.

This is my entry for Meeta's monthly mingle event
and also to Aparna's Sweet Celebration event
Also sending to Ivy's Time to be thankful day event.
She had written we should write why we are thankfull. I am really greatful for what I have in my life.

Ingridients:
4 sheet gelatine
285 ml double cream
2 tbsp sugar
4 cardamom pods crushed.
300 ml strong black coffee

For the coffee Syrup:
200ml black coffee
200 gm sugar
2 tbsp Kahlua ( optional) but it does gives a wonderful taste to the syrup

Soak the gelatine in cold water untill softened. Put the cream sugar and cardamom in a pan and gentley heat, don't boil.
Squeeze the gelatine and stir in untill dissolved, then stir in the coffee. Strain the liquid into small coffecups or glass and chill atleast 4 hours untill set or overnight

To make the coffee syrup, simmer the coffee and the sugar untill the sugar has dissolved. Cook the mixture for 5 minutes.
Stir in the Kahula and cool. ( you can keep them in the fridge)
Just before serving, flood the top of eah glass/cup with syrup.

Happycook, what an absolutely beautiful dessert. I love , love, love coffee (and chocolate). So your recipe really caught my eye. I too love grinding my own coffee beans before making a pot. I also have a jar of Nescafe (just incase). Great minds. My daughter and I are planning on taking a couple of days during the holidays and experimenting with Starbucks coffee recipes. I'll have to pull out the old espresso machine. Great post.

I really need to check if agar will work instead of gelatine.
