Mojito

When I was in India we never had any alcholic drinks, I guess back at home it was not something one did, have anykind of alchool drinks atleast females ( well I am talking about when I was a teenager which is more than 2 decades ago) or should i say 3, that would be a bit too long :-)
Well if my hubby reads this ( he never reads my blog so no probs :-) he will say yeah now see the indian talking she should drink Nimboo pani than this :-), that is what he tell me always as a joke.
Can't help it as you know I blame my drinking habbits to my MIL as she is the one who taught me to learn wine etc............. now a days she don't have to ask F do you want a glass of wine , before she can say wine i am yeah yeah i want ................
Not that we have drinks everyday, when ever there is a party then drinks are just pouring be it in my place or in my inlaws place.
So this is one of those drinks which we made when we had a party.

I love this drink as it is such a refreshing drink with all the ice and mint leaves in them.
So girls Enjoy ......

For 1 person.

50 ml white rum.
1 tbsp of sugar syrup / Powder sugar
20 ml lime juice
Few strips of mint leaves
Loads of crushed ice cubes
Sodawater for filling up the glass

Add the sugar syrup and lime juice in a glss, stir, add the mint leaves and crush them with the end of a spoon. Add a fat slice of lims, then the crushed ice, add the rum and fill the glass with soda water.
Garnish with mint leaves and a slice of lime.

  10. 100% true HC, atleast feminine gender is prohibited from talking openly about alcohol in India... Out here everything is common and first alcoholic drink that I ever tried was sangria and the next one was mojito, Kris makes this for me at home ;) Yippy its summer and probably I can have a drink or too often lol

  11. Love the story. Yes, my mom never touch alcohol even today but my dad always had Scotch on the weekends always. He was Lawyer, so he had to go lot of parties and build a social network for his work. His friends would give him Feni from Goa etc.
I am not very fond of heavy liquor but Scotch makes you warm in Winter and cool Beer on hot day on the deck with BBQ is heaven! LOVE Champagne!:)

Mojito looks yum, never had it at home but only at parties. Have fun! Wish I was there to share one with you!

  12. perfect day for a mojito post, cinco de mayo!! a margarita as well will make it more than perfect! :) Mojito is probably the only drink/food where i can tolerate the mint leaves, not a fan otherwise.

and what you said is totally right. In india, only after i started working is when i had alcoholic drinks first. Here though, we are beeg fans of wine and have some margaritas at home once in a while when ppl are there..other than that happy hours are the way to go!! :) It is so much a way of life here :)
